Meet the Skyborne.

Forever’s new race starts on Zephras Isle, with a choice of Horde or Alliance.

Choose Horde or Alliance when you create your character. Both offer Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids. Your faction decides whether Mage or Shaman is also available.

Your first levels on Zephras Isle

The Skyborne begin on their own island, with architecture inspired by Skywall. Blizzard also announced new druid forms, voices, dances and customization options.

Racial abilities

Community beta reference · Both factions

Four abilities per faction. Horde Windshapers receive Skysight; Alliance High Order receive Read Ley Line. The other three abilities are shared.

Both factions

Walk on Air

A controlled downward glide for 10 seconds.

Horde only

Skysight

A 10% movement and mounted-speed bonus. Nearby elemental convergences extend its duration.

Alliance only

Read Ley Line

Double Health and Mana regeneration, with a longer duration near a ley line.

Both factions

Elemental Insight

5% increased damage against Elementals.

Both factions

Wind Blessed

1% spellcasting, melee and ranged Haste.

Updated September 18: corrected the faction assignment of Skysight and Read Ley Line from the latest community export. This is a reference correction, not a confirmed balance patch. Compare all races.

Blizzard’s September 12 What’s Next recap establishes Skyborne as a race, its factions, eligible classes and starting zone. The racial descriptions and faction assignments are adapted from Talents Forever’s September 18 dataset, whose site identifies its racial data as beta client 1.60.1.69876. Effects have not been independently tested in game.
